Cisco ONS-SE-100-BX10U Compatible SFP 100BASE-BX-D BiDi 1310nm-TX/1550nm-RX 10km DOM Simplex LC SMF Optical Transceiver Module

The Cisco-compatible SFP transceiver provides up to 10km of 100Base-BX throughput over single-mode fiber (SMF) using 1310nm-TX/1550nm-RX wavelengths via LC simplex connectors. This bi-directional unit must be used with another transceiver or network equipment of complementary wavelengths. It provides 100BASE Ethernet connectivity options for Fast Ethernet and Data Centers.

Q:Which fiber optical cable should I use with this transceiver?
A:The Simplex OS2 Single Mode fiber patch cable is recommended.
Q:My two devices are different and I want to use 100BASE BIDI module to connect, do I just need to choose the corresponding brand of compatibility, is there anything else I need to pay attention to?
A:Yes, you need to choose the compatible module of the corresponding brand and you also need to make sure that the wavelength of bidi modules used at both ends should be matched, eg, one end uses 1310nm-TX/1550nm-RX, and the other end should use 1550nm-TX/1310nm-RX.
Q: I have bought a pair of BIDI modules, and I want to buy attenuators. Should I buy two attenuators for two modules?
A:One link uses one attenuator, which means two BIDI modules use one attenuator.
Q:Can this BIDI SFP be used for DWDM MUX?
A:Yes, the BIDI can be used in DWDM MUX. But it’s only for the special port, such as 1310nm port, because the wavelength of DWDM Mux Demux is DWDM wavelength transceivers, and BIDI SFP transceiver’s wavelength is common wavelength.
Q:Can I buy two identical BIDI modules to use on my device?
A:It is not recommended that you do so, unlike common fiber optic transceiver, BiDi transceiver is only with one port which uses an integral bidirectional coupler to transmit and receive signals over a single fiber optical cable. Thus, BiDi optical transceivers must be used in pairs.
