MVSLINK OSFP-800G-2OSFPDAC is an 800Gb/s twin-port OSFP (Octal Small Form-factor Pluggable) to 2x400Gb/s OSFP passive Direct Attach Copper (DAC) dual breakout (aka splitter) cable for 400Gb/s NVIDIA End-to-End Infiniband and Ethernet solutions. DAC cables are the lowest-cost, lowest-latency, near zero power consuming, high-speed links available due to their simplicity of design and minimal components.Main use is linking an 800Gb/s Quantum-2 switch or Spectrum-4 switch to OSFP-based 400Gb/s ConnectX-7 PCIe network adapter cards. Questions & Answers

Q: Why are there no NDR AOCs?
A: OSFPs are very large and heavy and the fiber breaks easily. A two-splitter cable will have three large transceiver ends. A four-splitter cable will have five transceivers. That would almost certainly make it easy to break the fiber during installation – especially for a 30 meter AOC.
Q: What is the maximum transmission distance of the OSFP-800G-DAC cable?
A: The passive DAC can provide up to 3M.
Q: I only use the 1st splitter of the splitter IB cable, the 2nd splitter is not installed on the NIC, will it affect the use of the 1st splitter cable?
A: It has no effect after the port is configured with a split port, it is recognized as two logical ports inside the device, and each splitter corresponds to one logical port, which has no effect on each other.
