NVIDIA/Mellanox® MMS1W50-HM Compatible 200GBASE-FR4 InfiniBand HPC Optical Transceiver Module (QSFP56,1310nm, SMF 2km, LC Duplex UPC, DOM, for SMF) 200G QSFP56 FR4 transceiver supports link lengths of up to 2km over Single Mode Fiber with Duplex-LC UPC connector in a QSFP56 form factor, using a nominal wavelength of 1310 nm.The module can convert 4-channel 53.125 Gbps electrical data to 4-channel optical signals, and multiplex them into a single channel for 212.5 Gbps optical transmission.This transceiver complies with the CMIS4.0, QSFP MSA, IEEE 802.3bs and operates according to the InfiniBand IBTA specification, and it is designed for use in 200Gb/s HDR InfiniBand applications.

Q: Can an IB optical module be connected to an Ethernet optical module?
A: No, it is not possible. The optical modules on both ends need to be of the same type, either IB optical modules or Ethernet optical modules.
Q: If hypothetically we had a problem where we don’t know if the issue is with the modules or with the Mellanox switches, or maybe Mellanox switch failure due to the module’s problem, would you provide us technical support?

Q: Can I insert 200G QSFP56 into the QSFP-DD port of the switch?
A: Yes, QSFP-DD has backward compatibility, QSFP56 can be inset into the QSFP-DD port.
Q: Can a 200G QSFP56 FR4 HDR optical module be used with a 100G EDR QSFP28 port?
A: No, it cannot. QSFP56 ports can accept both QSFP56 and QSFP28 optical modules, but QSFP56 optical modules cannot be used with QSFP28 ports.
Q: What modulation is used in the 200G QSFP56 FR4 optical module?
A: The modulation of the 200G QSFP56 FR4 optical module is 4x50G PAM4 on both the electrical side and the optical side.
