The other module&#8217;s receiving end uses a 1550nm wavelength to receive signals, and its transmitting end operates at 1310nm. In simple terms, one has a send as say purple and receive as yellow; the pair would be send yellow and receive purple.<\/p>\n<p>BiDi optics use a single strand of fiber, so they have to use wavelengths that won&#8217;t interact\/interfere with each other. You&#8217;ll usually see something like: Site A _____________________ Site B Tx 1310 nm &#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&gt; Rx 1310 nm Rx 1490 nm &lt;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212; Tx 1490 nm You can see how they use the same base wavelengths but they use them in opposite directions. On a traditional optic, the transmitter and receiver allow operating within the same frequency range, so it&#8217;s easier to find a matching optic to pair with it, but on a BiDi optic, they&#8217;re directional about the frequencies they use, and thus you have to match the directionality of the wavelengths on top of everything else.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"32_The_benefits_of_using_BiDi_modules_in_Pairs\"><\/span><strong>3.2. The benefits of using BiDi modules in Pairs<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Using BIDI modules in pairs ensures that:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Correct Wavelength Matching:<\/strong>\u00a0Each module is paired with another that operates on the complementary wavelength for both transmission and reception.<br \/>\n<strong>Efficient communication:<\/strong> The transmission and reception paths can achieve bi-directional communication over a single fiber. Conclusion<\/b><\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Wavelength allocation and fiber optic bi-directional transmission technology apply to the BIDI module working, which enables bi-directional data transmission by using multiple wavelengths on the same fiber for signal transmission and reception.
